Update to my previous post

While going through the archives of the webcomic in which mmsophia appears, I happened to notice these two pages, in which Lorelei's friend Leo Bowman is given an engine for his truck that "seems to regulate energy drawn from the quantum fluctuations in 'empty' space... forming an almost unlimited source of energy."

It appears her fellow posthuman savant, Forethought, has discovered a means of tapping zero-point energy. It may be, if the laws of physics governing such things in her world work the same way as they do back in my home universe, that she's about to have a lot of company.

Of course, her journal is written from the perspective that she exists in the "real" world, but that "obviously" can't be right. She's a fictional character, the same as Obi-Wan Kenobi (last_master). Or Strong Bad (good_or_awesome) and his little yellow friend (ilko_skevuld). Or max_a_mercer and Divis Mal, of course. 8-)

Sorry about that, Strong Bad. I didn't mean it in a bad way. You're at least as real as I am, possibly more so. You have fans all over the net, after all, while the fandom for the games about my world is small and pathetic. To quote aberranteyes quoting your "friend" Homestar, "I wasn't twying to step to you ow anything. We'we still cool?" 8-)

And notice, pretty soon after that adventure, there was an adventure in which various dimensions/universes/branes (take your pick) were criss-crossing...maybe you're right, one had something to do with the other.

And of COURSE I'm fictional. Even SCHROEDER believes I'm fictional. That's one of the luxuries on having a staff and breastplate that can alter memories and implant suggestions.

I've worked pretty hard to make sure everybody believes I'm fictional.

I was thinking more of the possibility that "your world" (wherever it is) is going to get an increase of superhumans. Though I may be assuming too much. On my Earth, Inspiration was partly the result of a genetic anomaly, eventually found in the "junk" DNA, which was triggered by "telluric" (zero-point) energy. Whether those particular genes are still lying dormant in baseline humanity around these parts, expressing only rarely, waiting for something to awaken them en masse... that remains to be seen (as aberranteyes is wont to say, "That's a factual question").

I have the advantage in that the fiction about me (a series of role-playing games using approximately the same rule-set) was established in this universe before I got here and is relatively obscure. If I introduced myself as Michael Donighal, very few people will recognize that name as the one Divis Mal was born under, and most of those wouldn't believe it unless they saw me using my powers. (Though I do have to wonder how Bates and his cohorts learned of Æon. Did max_a_mercer take a jaunt into this new continuum's past, just to see if he could, and misplace some records from the old cosm? Is he going to do so and we just don't know about it yet?)

I thought so. I've seen it happen in my own universe, after all, and we're hardly alone in that. As seen from (apparently) fictional examples such as the universes of DC and Marvel, the introduction of one post-human to a world will inevitably lead to others appearing. According to aberranteyes, Alan Moore had a character in an issue of Miracleman state it as a universal constant. (That raises the question of who the earliest in my universe was, but I can cover that in another post.)

Yes, most of the people I've fought against or with have been consquences of either myself or my projects, or Forethought---in other words, of my mother's project. Forceful, Moodswing, Hatrid, Anansi (who stumbled on my technology), the Horror, etc.

Even Bloodlust was only directed my way because I saved my father.

And, judging by the capabilities some of his Adapted agents display, he's been able to reverse-engineer further technological advancements from analysis of the staff.

(One wonders if Moodswing has any connection to the artifacts...)

Moodswing's mood-altering belt is made from the same cache of transuranic elements, made specifically by Smith....even as Moodswing's beauty and empathic nature is a product of Forethought's compassion. So she is a product of both "ripples", as it were.

Good point. I was thinking more in terms of connections backward, but they both apply. Do we know where in the sea she came from? Perhaps her connection with the cache goes further back than she can currently remember.

At the moment, even SHE doesn't know. I could probably hypnotize her to bring out hidden memories...but right now she's on the run. Otherwise, I don't know anything---she was evidently badly scarred from her sea-experience, and she could have looked like almost anyone before. The only clue is her oddly-colored eyes...but nothing's been uncovered about it yet.

Sorry for the initial flip answer, but that is a bit of a sore spot with me, actually. Back home (you may recall from your copy of Aberrant: Teragen), my image (like those of all Terats) was protected by Angela, who administered it through PanPro on behalf of the movement.

Here, White Wolf owns my ass so thoroughly that I might as well go out and have the legalese tattooed on a buttock (ideally in the same spot where Sir Ian McKellen has his Fellowship tattoo). That's another thing that stops me making my existence known to the world at large. At least, that's my in-character story and I'm sticking to it.

Hmm... well, I gather I'm a canon character, but I got here from a point after canon ceases to give two tugs of a dead dog's lipstick about my (then) current activities. My Personal Space is canonical (aberranteyes learned of it first from etherlad, who had it from the Trinity Universe's own authors); it was simply never featured in any TU supplement (although Austin says it's to rate a mention in the Trinity Storytellers Handbook, and Universe Creation, the power with which I wrought it, appears in the Aberrant Players Guide).
